Wordsmith (Poetry)

He uses the same words
I recognise them all
not one of them is unfamiliar
and yet with him
they behave differently
as though they are children
in the charge of a firm teacher
they know will not tolerate
laziness or bad behaviour
so they line up without fuss —
the smart, the quick and the clever —
ordinary words to extraordinary effect
because he always brings out
the very best in them
